- A few leaves of kale
- 2 celery stalks (3 or 4 if pre-packaged)
- 1 lemon
- 1 apple
- 1 Cucumber (optional)
- Cayenne pepper
- Ice cubes
Mise en Place
- Wash all produce
- Cut the apple into small pieces
- Slice the celery and cucumber into small pieces
- Cut lemon and squeeze juice into blender
Add apples, celery and cucumbers (if they fit) to the blender. Then blend to make room for the kale.
Add a couple ice cubes. Pack kale down. Add a pinch of salt and cayenne pepper. Start with a little, it gets spicy pretty fast. Blend.
Taste. Top with a sprinkle of cayenne, if you want more heat. Enjoy!
One of my favorite green smoothies. I often forgo the cucumber unless I’m cooking something else, because a half cucumber doesn’t keep long.
Cyanne pepper is one of those things that gets exponentially hotter the more you use. If you’re unsure start with a small amount. You can always stir in more later.
